In accordance with the requirement of the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act No. 537, Falls Township and Morrisville Borough are preparing to submit to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PaDEP) a Sewage Facilities 537 Plan Update Revision for the Decommissioning of the Morrisville and Keystone Trade Center Wastewater Treatment Plants and the construction of a new regional wastewater treatment plant at the Keystone Trade Center. This Notice is published to allow the general public to comment on the proposed Update.
Morrisville Municipal Authority (MMA) will fund the decommissioning of the Wastewater Treatment Plants in Morrisville (WWTP) and the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Keystone Trade Center (KTC), the construction of new transfer pump stations and associated force mains to redirect flow, and consolidate treatment at a new wastewater treatment facility (WWTF) to be constructed within KTC in Falls Township, PA. The WWTF will discharge to the Delaware River.
The WWTF will offer improved effluent quality designed to meet the more stringent regulations being imposed on the Delaware River.
The WWTF will continue to service the same customer base as the existing facilities which provide treatment for parts of Falls and Lower Makefield, and all of Morrisville and Yardley. While the facility is designed to accommodate future growth, there is no proposed expansion of the service area included in the Update.
The cost for this project will be funded by grants and loans and the expenses will be spread across MMA's customer base over several years. The 30-day public comment period has been established commencing on the date of this advertisement. The general public may review the Update electronically.
