Energy Transfer/Sunoco Pipeline Leak in Upper Makefield Township
Lower Makefield Township officials are aware of the recent pipeline leak reported in Upper Makefield Township involving Energy Transfer/Sunoco infrastructure.
At their meeting on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the Lower Makefield Township Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 25-07 calling for comprehensive remediation, preventative measures, a full review of pipeline integrity throughout the region, and the immediate shutdown of the subject pipeline until independent verification of its safety is completed.
Upcoming Meetings: The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be hosting a virtual public meeting on Thursday, April 10, 2025 beginning at 6:00pm. Please register to attend using the following link:

The DEP has provided an independent Response to Resident Questions. Additionally, DEP conducted stream assessments (sampling and visual observation) on Monday, March 3, 2025 at the locations reflected on the linked map. The PA Department of Health (DOH) has prepared a Water Well Contamination Fact Sheet.
