CSX (Train) Information & Feedback

All work for the construction of the Quiet Zone has been completed and the official establishment of the Quiet Zone began as of July 8, 2017.

• In a quiet zone, railroads have been directed to cease the routine sounding their horns when approaching public highway-rail grade crossings.
• Train horns may still be used in emergency situations (i.e. when a person, vehicle or animal is observed on the tracks and in danger of being struck) or to comply with other Federal regulations or railroad operating rules.
• If you believe that horns are being sounded in locations or in a manner inconsistent with this, please provide specific details in order that FRA may investigate.
• You are welcome to submit an Alleged Violation Report on this webpage:https://railroads.dot.gov/railroad-safety/federal-railroad-administration-alleged-violation-reporting-form.
