The Friends of Five Mile Woods will be hosting a Fall Open House on Sunday, September 20, from noon until 4:00 PM, at Lower Makefield Township’s Five Mile Woods Preserve - 1305 Big Oak Rd. Yardley, PA 19067. The Preserve headquarters will be open with nature artifacts and animals on display. Guided nature tours will be offered as needed/as guides are available until 3:30 p.m. Nature tour participants will experience signs of fall and learn about plants and animals that make Five Mile Woods their home. All ages are welcome! Stroll on our new 800-foot accessible boardwalk that passes through a wildflower meadow, woodlands and wetlands. Other walking is on trails with uneven surfaces. Please wear sturdy walking shoes that can get muddy.
Five Mile Woods is a 300-acre nature preserve managed by and located in Lower Makefield Township. It is primarily wooded and is bisected by the Fall Line, where the Atlantic Coastal Plain and Piedmont regions meet. The Preserve gives residents a chance to connect with nature close to home and is open from dawn to dusk. Visitors should anticipate rules consistent with a nature preserve: Any form of collection, pets and bikes are prohibited within the Preserve.
