Pennsylvania American Water is aware that some customers in our Yardley system have recently reported a “musty” or “earthy” taste and/or odor in their drinking water. This aesthetic issue is not harmful and is the result of hot, dry weather conditions impacting source water quality in the Delaware River. To address this, we have enhanced our water treatment with activated carbon to remove compounds that contribute to this harmless taste and odor issue. Again, there is no reason for concern. We are hopeful that the treatment changes and potential rainfall will positively impact our source water conditions and improve the taste and odor of the water.
We continue to monitor Delaware River levels and conditions, and there are no conservation orders or advisories in place at this time. We always remind our customers to use water wisely. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
