OVERHEAD POWER LINE WORK – OCTOBER 23 – NOVEMBER 3 FROM 7:00 AM TO 2:00 PM

For approximately two weeks beginning Monday, October 23 and continuing through Friday, November 3. SEPTA Power Department personnel will be working from the wire train (which uses a diesel locomotive) removing old power catenary wires from the track that SEPTA previously shared with CSX.

SEPTA crews will be working Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM in Middletown Township, Lower Makefield Township and Yardley Borough between Township Line Road and West Trenton yard on the West Trenton Line.

INTERMITTENT ROAD CLOSURES AT GRADE CROSSINGS

TRAIN HORNS

During the work period (7:00 AM to 2:00 PM), it is likely that residents will hear train horns in the quiet zone area. FRA safety rules require trains to sound horns when passing stopped equipment and to alert railway roadworkers of approaching trains. Residents are reminded that train engineers can sound train horns at their discretion for safety and other purposes, even in a quiet zone.

MAKE THE SAFE CHOICE

SEPTA customers and members of the general public are reminded that train tracks should be considered active at all times and in all directions.

There are precautions motorists should take when driving near train tracks and through grade crossings. The closing gates, warning bells and flashing lights indicate that the train is approaching and has the right of way. Drivers that pass through flashers or crossing gates are in violation of motor vehicle laws and are subject to heavy fines. Road markers indicate the safest distance for vehicles to stop from the grade crossing when the gates are down.
