Bucks County Performing
Arts Center
(formerly Lower Makefield Society for the Performing Arts)
Now celebrating its 28th season, the LMSPA has evolved into the
Bucks County Performing Arts Center, to better represent the expansion
of its programming and reach into all of Bucks County. The organization
will continue to be sponsored by Lower Makefield Township and
partially financed through the Local Government Grant Program
of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and Lower Makefield Township.
The BCPAC offers monthly concerts from September through April.
Presented primarily in the Lower Makefield Township Building,
the series also provides a showcase for area print, photo, water
color, and related media artists to exhibit their works, adding
a colorful and distinctive dimension to the musical performances.
Mission and Support
BCPAC is dedicated to building community through the arts by
providing access to performing and visual artists in the Bucks
County, Pennsylvania region. BCPAC endeavors to select a broad
range of performing arts to address different art forms, cultures
and tastes in the community. The BCPAC has received grants from
the Grundy Foundation, Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, PennPAT,
Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance, Wachovia, Sovereign Bank,
Target Stores, McCaffrey’s and Wal Mart and continues to
be supported by Lower Makefield Township and the Pennsylvania
Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal
agency. Individual residents also support the organization through
their generous gifts and extensive patronage.
Partnerships
In 1996, the LMSPA Outreach Program joined forces with the Pennsbury
School District to promote the National Standards for Arts Education
by bringing artists into the educational environment. The program
works with teachers and offers mini-grants to bring artists into
the classroom to enhance the curriculum. During 2005, BCPAC established
new partnerships with Pro Line Music and the Yardley Community
Centre, and has plans to extend its primary and secondary school
partnership program throughout Bucks County, along with other
venues and arts organizations.
